Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

We like to include search engine optimisation (SEO) for all websites we create. What good is a website if no one can find you online? We are also able to apply SEO to your existing website should your current site not be getting the web traffic it deserves. Search engine optimisation is a key factor as to how your website will rank in related searches in search engines such as google.com.au and yahoo.com.au. We do our best to ensure your website is represented correctly and effectively throughout design and within the page coding ultimately aiding your website to appear within relevant search results.

The only way to guarantee listings on the first few pages for specific search criteria is via sponsored listings which results in ongoing costs. We do not offer sponsored listings however you are able to do this with any website yourself via search engines such as Google or Yahoo. Our previously designed websites are all displayed by search engines in their relevant categories and regions without sponsored listings.

No one can guarantee organic (not sponsored or paid) website listings on the first few pages of search engines but we certainly do our best to optimise your website to the best of our ability which has proven very successful for previous websites created by Cool Caper Web Design. Feel free to test some of the previous sites we have created; go to google.com.au and type in 'fishing charters central coast' or fishing Gosford' and you'll find www.estuaryfishingtours.com.au. Type in 'new car sales central coast' and find www.worthingtonprestige.com.au (which shows terrific results for a one page website) or www.motorgalerie.com.au for example. Keep in mind that popular keywords and larger regions are harder to optimise for as more businesses of all types target the same key words.

So regions such as Sydney, Central Coast, The Hunter Valley and Newcastle are hard to optimise for. Can you imagine how many types of businesses for example target these key words. Just for the Central Coast alone you are competing against Central Coast accommodation websites, Central Coast Shops, Central Coast Restaurants and Central Coast Activities and more. Just imagine all of the various individual business types on the Central Coast trying to target a Central Coast region search. It's hard work designing a website with optimisation in mind. So for www.estuaryfishingtours.com.au for example to show up within the first three pages (if not the first page) of google for a Central Coast fishing search without ever paying for a sponsored listing our search engine optimisation is working extremely well. This was one of the first websites we created and has proven itself to be a valuable marketing tool for Estuary Fishing Tours.

Once your site has been published on to the web or modified for search engine optimisation you will not see the results of search engine optimisation instantly. The search engines refresh their stored web data periodically. So you will not see any changes for a couple of months. The websites search engine ranking also grows with time as the popularity of the website also grows. I recommend that you ensure your business has an online presence as soon as you can to increase your customer market and to help with your websites future search engine ranking.

Web Page Banners and Email Banners

We love designing individual web banners to help showcase your business in a professional manner and to give the viewer an instant insight of the services and or products you provide. Our web banners can incorporate your company logos and or company colours meeting advertising guidelines of professional businesses. We are also able to create web banners for use in existing websites or email banners to use as your signature on your emails. Flash slide shows

Flash slide shows can be incorporated into a web page banner or throughout web pages to enhance the websites appearance. Some businesses like to have us update flash slide shows on a regular basis to attract attention to their latest news or specials. They are a great way to bring attention to a particular area of your site. www.motorgalerie.com.au uses a lot of slide shows throughout the site to show case special features and promote their latest specials for example. Flash Animations

Flash animations are similar to flash slide shows only a lot more work and detail is involved to create the moving animation. You are welcome to contact us to discuss your animation requests and we will work out a quote based on how much work is involved in creating your animation. As an example www.donkeywelfare.com.au has a banner at the top of the site where red hearts come up one at a time when the page is first viewed or refreshed. This is a very simple flash animation that has been incorporated into the design of the banner.

Domain Names and Registration

Domain Names are easily described by calling them the address of the website that is typed into the web browser. So if your domain name was www.coolcaper.com.au and you displayed this on your business cards customers could then type this address into the web browser such as Internet Explorer and view your website (if you also have hosting). All websites need a domain name. To register a .com.au domain name you will need to supply your business information such as trading name and abn number. Cool Caper Web Design does not supply domain name registration however we can register your domain name for you with one of our frequently used domain name suppliers.

The au after the .com stands for Australia therefore I recommend Australian businesses register an .au domain name to signify your country of origin. Some businesses also like to register extra domain names when available such as coolcaper.com or coolcaper.net covering all options customers may enter into their internet browser. These additional domain names can then be forwarded to your main domain name (that has hosting) so you only have one hosting fee. However each domain name has it's own yearly registration fee and only one domain name is necessary to list your site on the web along with hosting. Domain name registration should cost no more than $30 per year.

Website Hosting and Registration

A web host is a company that provides a certain size and type of space on their computer set up as a server which is always connected to the internet so as world wide web users can assess your website files all day every day. The cost of hosting varies between hosting companies and depends on your website's needs but as an idea for a basic website ongoing costs are usually about $200 per year. So with hosting and domain name fees your ongoing website costs would start from about $230 per year for a basic website without web updates.

Cool Caper Web Design does not supply website hosting services however we are happy to register your hosting with a host for you should you be purchasing a website from us.

Database Websites

At this stage Cool Caper Web Design does not provide services for online database sites such as online forums or shopping carts. We aim to target these services in the future but at present do not have the resources to ensure quality database web solutions. However we are able to create functions within your website to include the services of external shopping carts such as Paypal where you are able to include your own active Paypal account to take paypal and credit card payments for items on your site. Glossary

HTML - HyperText Markup Language is the most popular markup language for creating web pages. It describes the structure and appearance of the web page.

WWW - World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the internet with a web browser. A user views web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigates between them using hyperlinks.

SEO - Search Engine Optimisation is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

Domain Name - A domain name is the web address which when entered into your internet browser such as Internet Explorer brings up your web site. Like a house number or street address. But you need a house (hosting) on the block of land to go inside and live (view the website).

Hosting - Hosting is a company that sells you space on their web server (big computer) to store your website files. Their web server is on and open to internet users 24 hours a day.
